When the Wi-Fi test has to walk with you: Pineapple Pager field notes

Handheld tri-band Pineapple work for authorised assessments — alerts, payloads, and how ALFA Network LK prices the Pager in Sri Lanka.

Lifts, lobbies, and a battery that has to last

Not every wireless finding waits politely at a desk. For example, a hospital IT lead in Kandy wants you to walk the public floors with a written list of SSIDs and prove whether patient-guest networks still look attractive to phones. Dragging a laptop open in every lift lobby is awkward. That is where the WiFi Pineapple Pager earns its keep.

ALFA Network LK sells the Pager at LKR 122,500 (VAT inclusive) for authorised labs and training only.

Why a handheld changes the conversation

Hak5’s specs put tri-band Wi-Fi (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz), Bluetooth/BTLE, a colour display, a 2000 mAh battery, USB-C Ethernet, and DuckyScript/Bash payloads in your palm — with ringtones and vibration when an alert fires. You spend less time explaining “wait, let me reconnect the laptop” and more time showing the risk the SOW already named.

Hak5 also notes Cloud C² is not the Pager’s path today; long remote implants still point at Mark VII / Enterprise. Choose the tool for the engagement shape, not the brochure photo.

Kit pairing

  • Mark VII on the bench for browser campaigns; Pager on the walk
  • An ALFA USB adapter in the bag for capture homework students already know
  • Label the Pager’s MAC on tape — handhelds vanish into the same pocket as snacks

Practical tips

  • Charge overnight; confirm firmware and alert payloads on a lab SSID before site day
  • Use USB-C Ethernet/SSH when menus are too slow under pressure
  • Write alert rules that match only in-scope BSSIDs
  • Keep a one-page loan sheet if students share the unit

FAQ

Pager or Mark VII?

Pager for untethered walks and payload/alert workflows. Mark VII for classic web UI, modules, and Cloud C².

Does it do cellular?

No — ISM radios only per Hak5. Cellular would be a separate licensed mod story, not this SKU.

Can we publish ringtone demos on TikTok?

Not with client SSIDs in the background. Ever.

Local stock?

Yes through ALFA Network LK — details below.

These tools belong in authorised assessments, lab practice, and training — not casual tinkering on networks that are not yours.

In Sri Lanka, unauthorised access to computer systems can engage the Computer Crimes Act No. 24 of 2007. This post is practical product guidance, not legal advice. If you are unsure whether a test is allowed, get written permission first and talk to counsel who knows local law.

Only use this gear on systems you own, or on systems where a named client has given you written authorisation that covers the methods you plan to run.
