Privacy & cookies

Last updated: 17 October 2026. The English version of this page is the official version.

The short version

This blog only uses Google Analytics if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject or ignore the banner, Google Analytics does not load at all. We do not run ads, we do not use advertising or remarketing cookies, and we do not sell personal data.

Cookies and similar storage

  • alfa_consent: remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, for 180 days. It is shared between blogs.alfanetworklk.com and www.alfanetworklk.com so you only answer once.
  • _ga and _ga_* (Google Analytics): set only after you accept. They let us count returning visitors without knowing who you are. Kept for up to 14 months.
  • Admin sign-in: a secure session cookie used only by our own staff on the admin pages.
  • Theme preference: your light or dark choice is kept in your browser's local storage.
  • Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights: count page views and measure page speed in aggregate, without cookies.

What Google Analytics sees

With your permission we measure which pages are read, roughly where visitors are (country or city), the device and browser type, how people found the blog, and a few actions such as subscribing to the newsletter, sharing a post, posting a comment or clicking through to a product. We never send names, email addresses, phone numbers or what you type into a form or comment. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off.

Changing your mind

Use (also in the footer) at any time. If you switch to Reject, analytics stops and the Google Analytics cookies are removed from this site. You can also block cookies in your browser settings.

Newsletter and comments

If you subscribe, we keep your email address only to send the newsletter, and every email has an unsubscribe link. Comments are moderated before they appear. This is handled in line with Sri Lanka's Personal Data Protection Act, No. 9 of 2022. The full ALFA Network LK privacy policy and cookies policy apply to this blog too.
